Car Key Mod

Porsche key fobs have a large button on the back for triggering the 'Panic' mode. This button can accidentally be actuated inside a pocket. I designed and 3D-printed an attachment to prevent this actuation.

Figure 2 - Bottom view. Underneath the semi-circular figure, the button lies unable to be actuated. In the event of an emergency, the top and bottom piece can be pulled apart.

Figure 3 - Top view of keycap; this part prevents the cover from falling off. The lack of a fourth button (Remote-Start) makes this design possible.

3D printers have a variety of uses. I utilized my 3D printer for a practical application such as designing a modification for Porsche keyfobs. The 3D printed keycap has an indent so the object does not come in contact with the button. Since the 3D printed plastic was printed using a lower precision sensitivity, it prevents the top and bottom piece from seperating. If "wiggled" with a certain amount of force, they can be pulled apart.
