Robotics CAD
I was a member of a robotics team at my school. I designed and 3D printed parts as this allows for customization and keeps weight down as plastic is significantly lighter than metal while still being strong enough for the tasks at hand. A few parts I printed include the claw, sponsors' logos, my school's logo, and a plane launcher.
Claw v1
One of the most important parts to customize is the claw. The claw has to fit a specific object to be picked up in any orientation. By using the dimensions of the object to pick up, I designed the claw with a circular footprint so it can pick up the specified object in any orientation. Using the CAD file of the object, I tested to see if it would fit.
The first version of the claw wasn't optimal as the middle barrier was difficult to strengthen. I went with a simpler design as it was reliable and compact.

Sponsors' Logos
As part of the sponsorship we received, we showcased sponsor's logos by placying them on a plate as an extrusion with its respective colors. Matched to the dimensions of a standard GoBilda channel, they are easily fitted to the robot.
